Andra Nelki studied Graphic Design at the Central School of Art. She
worked as a picture researcher of history books for Weidenfeld and Nicolson
for ten years and compiledThe Picture Researchers Handbook (David &anmp; Charles)
in collaboration with Hilary and Mary Evans of the Mary Evans Picture
Library. She then worked as a photographer and was commissioned among
others by Andre Deutsch, Reader's Digest and William Collins. Nelki enrolled
at The Polytechnic of Central London obtaining a BA with distinction in
Photography. It was there she developed an interest in old photographic
processes such as salt printings and cyanotypes which led to a fifteen
year cooperation with Linda McCartney resulting in Linda's 'Sun Prints'
project with exhibitions at The Victoria & Albert Museum, The Royal Photographic
Society and in New York.. (Book: Sun Print by Linda McCartney - Barrie
and Jenkins 1988) Nelki works from her studio at Kennington in London
where she specializes in editorial and promotional photography mainly
commissioned by artists and designers working in the UK. Her work has
been purchased by and exhibited at Tate Britain, by the Arts Council and
the National Gallery of Wales.
